GENUINE BBC TV SCREEN USED JIM'LL FIX IT CHAIR PLUS REAL JIM'LL FIX IT BADGE!!!

The one and only! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy probably the only surviving Jim'll Fix It chair in the world as they tend to just destroy stuff like this to fit it in skips after a production ends! It is quite an incredible site to see in real life because it feels like an old friend from your childhood and perhaps the most remarkable thing is that it has an ashtray built in, with some of Jimmy Savilles old cigar ash still in! (That's a sign of the times!)

It was actually donated by the BBC to be sold at a charity auction back in the 1980s. I don't actually hold paperwork for that because it has had a 2nd owner prior to me and the trail tends to get cold after 20 years, especially that in those days people didn't even think of Certificates of Authenticity, eBay didn't exist then and people didn't put value on stuff like this! That's why genuine 1977 Star Wars props are worth a fortune now, because people working on the production didn't put any value on it and nearly everything was destroyed straight after filming! Dr Who is another one guilty of this as I have owned a genuine BBC made Dalek which was taken apart in 5 pieces and thrown in a skip!

The Badge alone is worth £455! Check out eBay Item number: 230325299191 and then imagine what this chair is REALLY worth! Many hundreds of badges were handed out over the show's 19 year run (that's right 19 years this show ran for!) but only a handfull of Chairs were made! If this chair was put up for auction in Sotheby's, it would sell for a lot more than my Buy It Now price (but those things take time as you have to wait for the right TV and Movie props themed auction to be held, not to mention the extortionate fees of Sotheby's! So to coin the now overly used eBay phrase 'My loss, your gain!' only this time hopefully you can agree, YOU REALLY DO GAIN!!)

The Jim'll Fix It Chair was a VERY special part of the programme because it was not only from where Jimmy Saville did all his presenting, but it had extra large arm rests not only for little children to sit on, but the now famous hidden compartments from where Jim would pull out special treats and the famous Jim'll Fix It Badges. 

This particular seat is from around the 1975 to 1978 era judging by the 2 buttons on the panel to control the 2 hidden compartments in the armrests. Also later seats had Jim'll Fix It written on the left arm rest front (our left, his right) so we can quite accurately date it to then.

The Chair has a special industrial style safety power plug on a very long cable to power the 2 compartment doors. One of the buttons on the panel is missing just the top cover, easily replaced and nothing to detract from just what an important and valuable piece of TV history this is. It seems to have become more than just a TV show in that respect, like Star Wars has ended up being more than just a movie but part of pop culture.

Jim'll Fix It is part of almost ALL our childhoods and when you think about it, ran for 2 generations and is probably a reminder of better times! Remember a time when you would climb trees and make rope swings accross rivers instead of becoming diabetic and obese from eating fast food whilst playing Xbox. A time when you could happily fall off your bike riding round the local playground, scrape your knees up really bad and end up with gravel embedded in the palms of your hands and mum would wash it all out and kiss it better as opposed to now when she will automatically sue the council for having gravel in the playground! 

Condition wise, it's obviously showing it's age but it's the REAL THING!!! Look at it this way, you're NEVER going to see one come up for sale EVER AGAIN so if it's something you're interested in buying, be less worried about the odd rip in the upholstery and more worried about where you will find another one when someone else presses the Buy It Now button before you!

I was actually going to use this one as the template to make fully accurate replicas with all the electronics included, and sell them on my website but just never had the time to pursue this avenue but I know this, you could ask £1500 for a replica as this is a seriously BIG and comfortable seat on a swivel base and that coupled with brand new upholstery, with optional Jim'll Fix It logo embroidered on the armrest and hidden electric doors maybe even housing a small fridge for lager etc.

The world is your oyster once you have an original seat from a money making point of view, whether you would use it for a publicity stunt to attract attention to your business / cause or you would be buying it to do exactly what I was going to do and sell replicas, always keeping the original just to add that all important credibility to your replicas business.

This quite literally is a status symbol that will have everyone talking (with envy half the time!) Basically if you had this in you car showroom or another place where you may want a novelty gimmick to impress your customers/clients it really doesn't get any better than this!
